Andrea Petro
Executive Vice President
Division Manager – Lender Finance
A 21-year veteran of the asset-based lending industry, Andrea Petro established the Lender Finance Division of Wells Fargo Foothill in 2000 with the exclusive mission of providing financing for specialty finance companies. Prior to joining Foothill, Petro was Senior Vice President, National Marketing Manager of the Financial Services Funding Division of Transamerica Business Credit. Petro earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Kent State University and her Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Austin. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Commercial Finance Association.
Jeff Carbery
Senior Vice President
Jeff Carbery, who has had a 23-year career in commercial finance, joined Lender Finance in 2004. Carbery began his career with GE Capital in 1984 as a Senior Auditor and continued in account management positions with increasing responsibility. In 1995, he joined Transamerica Business Capital, where he became the Southeast Region Manager in 2000.
J. Brian Bailey
Senior Vice President
Brian Bailey joined Lender Finance in 2007 as an Originations Liaison specializing in originating and structuring financings for high yield and emerging asset classes. Bailey spent 7 years at ORIX Finance and ORIX Capital Markets, eventually becoming Head of the Structured Products Group and a member of the investment committee. As head of the Structured Products Group at ORIX, Bailey was responsible for new business development, credit underwriting, and portfolio management. Prior to that he was a Principal and Vice President of Seaboard & Company LLC, a mid-sized hedge fund, where he oversaw the day to day trading of the $600 million high yield bond and loan portfolio and structured a $300 million CLO. Seaboard & Company was later retained to manage the $1.5 billion corporate investment portfolio of ORIX USA. Bailey is a native of South Carolina and received his BBA with a concentration in Quantitative Finance and Mathematics from the Honors College at the College of Charleston.
Luke Graham
Originations Liaison & Managing Director - Capital Markets
Luke Graham joined Foothill in 2005 and works closely with the Northeast Loan Originations team to review and structure transactions for Lender Finance. Within Lender Finance, he also structures transactions that are syndicated into the asset-backed conduit market. Prior to joining Foothill, Graham worked at Wachovia Securities in Atlanta where he was a Director of Originations in the Asset-Backed Conduit Finance Group. Graham also worked with GE Corporate Financial Services in Atlanta and MBIA in New York City. He received his MBA in Finance from Rutgers Graduate School of Management and his B.S. in Economics from Penn State.
Stewart W. Hayes
Senior Vice President
Stewart Hayes joined Wells Fargo Foothill in December 2000 as an original member of the Lender Finance unit. His current responsibilities include the development of new lending relationships for specialty finance companies, with his primary focus on the Central, Midwest, and Southeast states. Hayes previously served as the Portfolio Manager for the Lender Finance division. He has over 25 years of experience in the asset-based lending industry, including significant experience in lending to specialty finance companies. His prior experience includes more than 16 years at Bank of America Commercial Finance, including executive management positions at both its Business Credit and Factoring divisions.
Bret Martin
Senior Vice President
Bret Martin joined Foothill in 1997 and has 20 years of experience in financing middle market businesses. Martin has sourced and structured both asset-based and cash flow senior debt financing for companies in a wide variety of industries to include, financial services, restaurants, gaming, oil and gas exploration & development, and media & communications. Martin received his B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley.

John R. Brooks
Managing Director
Prior to joining Wells Fargo Foothill in 2006, John Brooks spent over 20 years in various capacities in the media industry. He served as CFO of 2 radio groups – BayCom Partners, L.P. and AIM Broadcasting–Las Vegas – and in media finance and investment banking with Silicon Valley Bank, Hartstone & Dickstein and Marine Midland Bank. John graduated with a B.A. in Economics from Hobart College and did additional graduate work in finance at Fordham University.
James C. "Jamie" Lewis
Managing Director
Jamie Lewis, a veteran of media finance with more than 20 years of experience, joined Wells Fargo Foothill in 2006 from Bank of America Securities LLC, where he worked as the Sector Head of the Media and Telecom Banking Group, focusing on providing debt and investment banking services to small and mid-cap clients and prospects. Prior to the Bank of America/FleetBoston merger, Lewis was the Group Executive of FleetBoston’s Media, Entertainment and Sports Group, and also spent time at Bank of Boston as an Group Executive of Loan Syndications and Trading Group. Lewis received a BA from Randolph-Macon College, and received MPA and MBA degrees from the University of New Hampshire. He also served as an officer in the US Army.
Richard Kritsch
Originations Manager
Richard Kritsch joined Wells Fargo Foothill Specialty Finance in April, 2007 as a Loan Portfolio Manager dedicated to Syndications and Trading, and by August, Kritsch had been named Originations Manager for the unit. Kritsch has over 15 years of experience in corporate finance, providing debt and raising capital in a wide range of industries. Prior to joining Wells Fargo Foothill, he managed Pacific Capital Bancorp’s special assets department, and spent 10 years at Fleet Capital Corporation, most recently managing their underwriting efforts for the Western Region. Earlier in his career, Kritsch was a Vice President at Murphy Noell Capital, a boutique investment bank focused primarily on the middle market, and at Ernst and Young, where he was responsible for planning, administration and audits of various public and private companies. Kritsch graduated from California State University Northridge with a BS in Accounting in 1990.

Michael J. Smith, RRP

Mike Smith has over 19 years of experience in providing financing to the vacation ownership industry, including work in originations, underwriting, auditing, and portfolio management. Prior to joining Wells Fargo Foothill, Smith worked at Resort Finance Corporation and was responsible for new business development and portfolio management. Smith also worked at GE Commercial Finance Real Estate in its Vacation Ownership Finance Group, Heller Financial, Textron Financial Corporation’s Recreational Receivables Division, and Security Capital Credit Corporation’s Commercial Finance Division. He holds an MS from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a BS from Widener University, and is a Registered Resort Professional (RRP).

William J. Mayer
President and Chief Operating Officer, Wells Fargo Retail Finance
Bill Mayer joined Wells Fargo Retail Finance as Chief Operating Officer in September, 2002 and was named its president later that year. Prior to joining Wells Fargo Retail Finance, Mayer spent almost 14 years with GE Capital in various leadership roles, both domestically and internationally, holding positions in their Commercial Finance Group, Retailer Financial Services and Healthcare Finance Group. Before joining GE Capital, Mayer was at KPMG Peat Marwick. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the Pennsylvania State University. Mayer was recently named to the Executive Advisory Board at the David F. Miller Center for Retailing Education and Research at the University of Florida’s Warrington College of Business Administration.
Stephen Metivier

Steve Metivier joined Wells Fargo Retail Finance in 2006 as Managing Director of Marketing and Business Development. He came to Wells Fargo Retail Finance from GE Commercial Finance’s Retail Finance Group, where between 1998 and 2006, he underwrote and managed over $3.5 billion in retail transactions and originated in excess of $2.9 billion in new business. Metivier graduated cum laude from Northeastern University with a B.S. in Finance and Insurance.

Kurt Marsden

Division Manager – Technology Finance
Over a tenure of more than six years as Regional Credit Manager for the Western Region of Wells Fargo Foothill Business Finance, Kurt Marsden was integral in developing the company’s expertise in lending to software and technology companies. Marsden joined the company in 1992 as one of the original participants in Foothill’s Assistant Account Executive Training Program, then was promoted steadily through positions in field audit, loan administration, portfolio management and brief stint as the initial Credit Manager of Wells Fargo Foothill Specialty Finance. He is a graduate of California State University, Northridge with a B.S. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and Real Estate.
Thomas E. Lane
Senior Vice President
National Underwriting Manager
Tom Lane has over seven years of underwriting/management and loan documentation experience at Wells Fargo Foothill on technology transactions, and more than 20 years of commercial lending experience, overall. His experience ranges from small standalone financings of $10MM to complex, multinational acquisitions of $250MM, including term B and 2nd lien tranches in conjunction with hedge fund and private equity transactions. He started with Wells Fargo Foothill as a Senior Underwriter in the New York office in 2000 and relocated to Los Angeles in 2001. Prior to joining Foothill, Lane held various account management and underwriting positions with CIT Business Credit, Fremont Financial and IBM Credit. Lane holds a B.S. in Marketing from Babson College and an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Connecticut.
